No Rest for the Wicked

No trial this weekend.  So yea rest, right?  Right.  Well we did at least manage to sleep in.  No trial, but a trail ...

No alarm - YES!  That's the rest piece.  Coffee, breakfast, and out the door.  Drop Jemima off at Mona's and head to Power Paws for a mid-morning gamblers lesson from Jim, with Scott & Tracy.  Then lunch at a fab Italian deli Jim told us about.  Homemade ravioli!  Walmart for a couple of items.  Yep, I'm a sinner.  Pick up Jemima, visit with Mona.  Head home.  Blow off driveway.  Pull everything out of my smaller closet and pile it up on top of the crates - time for a long overdue revamp.  Remove poles, pull rug out, paint closet.  What have I done?  Let it go.  Watch some Interstellar.  Whoa.  Eat a little Cherry Garcia.

Jackets on the left

Sleep in again, sort of.  It was still dark out, but no alarm.  Work on resume' for awhile because it's a good thing to do.  Take a hand saw to the closet poles to shorten them - measure twice, cut once, right?  Forgot about that.  Jammed them in down the left side instead of the way they were:  left to right.  Put jackets etc back in closet.  It worked!  It's roomier and bright!  I can see in there!  It's now a walk-in closet - big enough to turn around in, if you suck it in.

Chucks on the right
Speaking of which ... vacuum. Twelve pounds of aussie fur.  Oops - stop and replace belt on vacuum, grateful the belt I found under the sink fit.  So that explains the burning smell while vacuuming out the closet.  Sheesh.  Nothing like breaking in a brand new vacuum.  That sucked.  ;)

Oh why not?  Go ahead.  Clear out trunk of old sheets etc and squeeze blankets in.  You're on a roll.  Take load to Goodwill in Scotts Valley.  Grab a latte'.  KMart for a shoe rack to hang on the closet wall.  Half hour hike with the girls.  Visit with Marcia.  Very fun evening lesson with Kathleen at Heart Dog; learned some trick new stuff.  Vixen loved it!  Home to watch more Interstellar.  Eat more froyo.

Doves flapping their wings overhead

The girls loved the hike.  I loved the hike.  It's a short but intense half-hour uphill trail across from Roaring Camp in Felton.  Sandy bottoms, pines and manzanitas.  There's a cell tower at the top that warns of strong electromagnetic fields beyond this point, and a giant cross and a couple of benches beyond that point.  Sit here a bit and glow.  Interesting mix.  With a pretty view of Scotts Valley through a tall wire fence except for the big ugly strip mining area.  Flashback to Hunger Games.

Not easy taking a picture on the run

Then back down the other side into the woods and around to the beginning.  We had the trail to ourselves.  The cyclist/dogs/hikers were on the other side of the road - love that side too, but usually choose the quieter side.

The colors in Felton were soft, pretty.
Could hear the wind sliding through the treetops.
Nice.

Ooooo tree!  Must stop.

Productive weekend.  My friend Jennifer called me a white tornado. :)
And up at 5am for work.  Maybe I can rest!  Hah!  Not ...
