4th Pups

We three are gearing up for the 4th of July.  I'm very fortunate that my dogs aren't bothered by fireworks, and especially fortunate that they rarely happen where I live.  I do like to go see them occasionally.  After all, when I was small I thought the fireworks were for me since they happen around MY BIRTHDAY.  How nice of them to put on such a delightful show just for me!  At least I have grown up some since then; now the ENTIRE MONTH is mine.

This b'day could be a bit of a challenge.  Besides the age thing, it falls on a Monday and I plan on being at work.  AND it's a Monday after a trial, a 3-day trial to be exact.  However, my boss wants to take me to lunch.  She said "pick a place, and I really like the Crow's Nest."  Works for me!  Ocean view?  Harbor? Sailboats?  Feeling pretty darn fortunate, I am.  I'll lose weight next month.

And her boss informed our department today that July is 'casual month' at work.  As in every day. How cool is that?  Not too shabby for a government gig.

July.  It's officially Summer.  Long days, picnics, motorcycle rides, sleeping with the windows open and the fans blowing, and now casual month.  Taking the dogs for a swim on a hot day (soon, I promise). Shorts, flip-flops ... but don't step on the back of my flip-flops.  Ever.

Went for a 200 mile ride with my friend and a new group of enthusiasts last weekend.  Three counties.  Lots of back roads, some Hwy 1 along the Pacific.  Five hours of riding in all.  From Alice's Restaurant in Woodside to Uvas Dam for a BBQ.  Good day.

Did you say picnic?

And of course since it's a well-celebrated holiday, it's also an opportunity for the dogs to brush up on their modeling skills.

Last year, our friend Grace stopped by
for a visit in July.

That same year, Vixen & Jemima visited their half-siblings Lizzie & Sunny, and played canine firework show.

And several years ago, Mona, Doug, Geary and I walked our dressed up dogs in the Boulder Creek 4th of July parade.  Here they are afterwards, gladly hanging in the shade.

So this year, we have a 3-day USDAA trial in Prunedale.  It may be hot everywhere around us, but the ocean breezes keep things cool at this location.  And it has a view of the Pacific.  And yes, the head gear goes, too.  Hopefully more 4th pups pics to come!
